FFC 2023326054 Michael matriculated at Camps Bay High School as a prefect and a member of various first sports teams. He completed his national service before attaining his Bachelor of Business Science degree in marketing and economics at the University of Cape Town in 1986. After graduating he joined the family business which included supermarkets, furniture stores and commercial and residential property companies. In 1993 he took over control of the furniture retail outlets, carpeting division, and property companies. During the period of South Africa’s transition into a democracy, his focus moved from a debt-based furniture business to a cash-driven carpeting business, mainly targeting GASH (Good Address Small Home) developments and installing carpeting for investors changing from single-owned apartment blocks into sectional title blocks. In 2004 he invented and patented the PoleCat clamp and fastening system and formed a company by the same name. During this period he gained invaluable experience in product development, invention and patenting, research and development, the start-up process, manufacturing and market penetration. This multi-functional, modular system was used in the self build exhibition stand, shopfitting, shelving, and display industries amongst others. Patents were awarded in South Africa, European Patent Office, China, and Australia. While being based in Cape Town, he supplied national companies such as: • Hang Ten, • Cape Union Mart, • Checkers, • ABSA, • South African Breweries • Multi-Choice Soon after the global financial crisis the market shrank and many clients cancelled orders and by 2010 he had closed the business. In 2011, before joining Liberty Life, he achieved one of his lifelong dreams of summiting Mount Kilimanjaro. Through this experience he came to understand the importance of tenacity, perseverance and integrity in achieving his professional commitments. He has always been committed to his continued education and skills development required to achieve his personal goals. Michael knows that there is no place like home and accepted an invitation to join Remax Living in March 2015 and immediately committed himself to attending to the property needs and requirements of buyers and sellers on Cape Town’s Atlantic Seaboard and the City Bowl. During this period, he received the highest professional quality training and took his PDE4 exam to qualify as a Professional Practitioner in Real Estate. This qualification allowed him to practice as an independent associate and in April 2018, he decided to practice independently on the Atlantic Seaboard, the City Centre and City Bowl. His results and achievements have come from his dedicated efforts and his belief that “the customer is king” and that they deserve his total commitment and his best professional service without ever compromising his integrity. He believes that the more he communicates with his clients, the clearer the understanding between all parties involve with regards to their needs and how best to satisfy them. For over 30 years he has been a self-employed entrepreneur and director of various companies. Whether inventing or managing businesses he has done so with utmost integrity and professionalism.
