Steyn City property guide

Steyn City at a glance

The fairly newly built Johannesburg estate includes: an equestrian center, a golf course and over 250 hectares of landscaped parkland.

What makes the estate truly impressive is the communal areas, vegetation and parklands which all attract some of the most impressive birdlife - which is no small feat, considering its close proximity to the city.

The parks are modeled after internationally renowned parks such as Hampstead Heath and Richmond Park in London, where residents gather to walk their dogs, catch up with the neighbours and enjoy the fresh air. The estate is also very child friendly with walking paths and underpasses under all the roads.

The key consideration in the design of Steyn City was to build a city that gives priority to people, not cars! The achieve this, a perimeter ring road was build, from which an 18km promenade meanders inward through the parkland residence, creating a network of pathways between the various nodes.

Each node is designated a character, and may thus be a sports node, a fitness node, a childrens playground node, etc. Residents will be able to walk for kilometres without having to navigate roads with vehicles. In theory, residents could walk from one end of the 2000 acre residentail parkland to the other.

Steyn City has been equipped with the latest technology, supplementing a trained force of security personnel and a canine unit. It is this assurance of peace of mind and the complete freedom to enjoy an outdoor, family-oriented lifestyle that has attracted buyers from Johannesburg’s northern suburbs, as well as other gated communities.

The estate is still in development – once fully complete, Steyn City will be the most extensive estate in the country (in terms of facilities and activities)
