Some recreational areas include the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens which is situated next to the Emmerentia Dam, in recent times many well-attended open air concerts have been hosted here. The Melville Koppies Nature Reserve, Westdene Dam, the renowned Delta Park and Environmental Centre and the highly regarded Kelland Bird Sanctuary adjacent to the Randpark Golf Course. Sporting venues include Marks Park. Emmerentia, the Northcliff Country Club, and the Randburg Sports Centre.

Schools in the Randburg area includes both Afrikaans and English schools which are steeped in histories such as the well known St Stithians and Trinityhouse.

Rental prices in the Randburg area are still below the neighbouring Sandton and the upgrade of the Randburg commercial area will see more first time homeowners and tenants flock to the area.
